Issue 165: Our recently published work focuses on population branching behavior in evolutionary game theory. Specifically, we analyze the impact of small population size on the ability of a monomorphic population to diverge into two distinct subgroups. The image shows the qualitative essence of our results alongside potential clinical implications. When mutants arise, their ability to thrive depends on the environment as well as the population size. The effectiveness of treatment is influenced by whether the population has become polymorphic or remains homogeneous.
