Group Leader: EMCL (Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab) @
Heidelberg, Germany
Description: The Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL), led by Prof. Dr. Vincent Heuveline at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), Heidelberg University, brings together applied mathematics, scientific computing, and biomedical research to address complex challenges in science and engineering.Within mathematical oncology, EMCL focuses on developing computational and mathematical models to better understand tumor growth, cancer progression, and treatment response. Our research combines mechanistic approaches, such as partial differential equations and multi scale modeling, with data-driven methods and high-performance computing to build predictive frameworks for personalized cancer research.Through interdisciplinary collaborations with mathematicians, computer scientists, and medical researchers, EMCL aims to translate advanced computational methods into meaningful tools for improving our understanding of cancer and supporting future precision oncology.
